About the Restaurant

Belgrade is a city that is situated on two rivers – Sava and Danube. Therefore, you should not leave this town before tasting our fish! The best place for that is, of course, the restaurant Šaran (Carp).

This restaurant was opened more than a century ago, in the apartment on the ground floor of an old house in Zemun. Zemun is an old part of the town whose architecture differs a lot from the city center’s, because of its history. So if you are visiting Zemun and its landmark Gardoš, perhaps you may want to come to this restaurant. Experience the part of the city that lays on the Danube river and its gastronomical offer.

Where is the best seafood restaurant in Belgrade? The answer is, of course, the Restaurant Šaran (Carp). Here, the fish is always fresh and delicious. Their experience and ambition are reflected in their success. It is a 4-star fish restaurant and one of the best-known restaurants in Belgrade. You can enjoy your dinner with acoustic music every night of the week and we can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Vintage interior in a fish restaurant Šaran

The Šaran restaurant’s interior is characterized by its unique vintage ambient made of woods and warm colors. And their specialties are obviously traditional and specific dishes made of fish. The menu offers a wide variety of river and sea fish, which you may look in person before you decide to order. We included the menu right below this text, so you can get familiar with it in advance.

Perhaps you want to eat octopus? Do not worry, as the restaurant Šaran has it as well! Their menu does not include only fish. They also offer other seafood. Squid, prawns, Adriatic scampi, or octopus – you choose it, and the skilled chef will prepare it just for you!

Do you know what is pike perch? This freshwater fish is one of the specialties of this restaurant. They have several types of pike perch filets, such as “Orly”, “Smederevo” or crispy piquant filet. You can even order the entire perch!

If you prefer traditional fish only, carp is the most popular one. Of course, other freshwater fish such as perch, trout, or sturgeon are available too. Besides that, restaurant Šaran offers seawater fish – sea bass, sea bream, tuna, and many more. In cooperation with the restaurant, we can prepare a set menu for you and your group. In this case, you will be able to taste several items from the delicious menu.

Equally important is the wine card! Enrich your meal with the special Wine of the House. Or perhaps, ask your waiter for the choice of wine. In either case, there is nothing better than a glass of wine, with a delicious meal! Restaurant Šaran serves only the best Serbian, regional, and international wines.

Explore Zemun

As you could already conclude, this area is very busy. Therefore, finding parking is not easy. If you are coming on your own, make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early, so you can find a parking spot in one of the streets nearby. Don’t forget to pay for the parking if you park in a zoned area. You can use the phone application for that, and the detailed instructions are provided here. Of course, we will take care of the table reservation, so you do not need to worry about that.

Zemun is a peculiar part of Belgrade. In fact, it was a separate city, which became a part of Belgrade in 1934. And before 1918, it was not even part of Serbia! Rather, it was part of Austro-Hungary. Due to that fact, even the architecture of Zemun is different than the rest of the Belgrade. You can learn more about Zemun on our Zemun Tour. Gardoš tower gives you the best view of Zemun, rivers, and Belgrade. Come to see it yourself and you will never forget it!
