If you are in Belgrade at the moment, the capital’s fine dining spots will certainly tempt you to try out some of their delicious specialties. However, it is very important to understand that eating out will expand your chances of exposure to the new virus. That is why we decided to give you some tips. This article is for everyone who decides to try some of the Belgrade cuisine.
Is it safer to sit inside or outside while eating out during pandemic?
It is certainly safer to sit outside while eating. It will reduce your chances of getting the virus. There is some advice though.
As soon as you choose a restaurant, go to the toilet and wash your hands. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. You can spray a liquid disinfectant asepsol on your hands at the entrance of almost every restaurant. There are also wet wipes with alcohol on each table and you can use them. Still, it is best to go and wash your hands thoroughly. You should also try to keep your mask on as much as possible when you are not actively eating.
What if the facility has not solved the problem of social distance in advance?
Make your own. Social distancing should be practiced in combination with other everyday preventive actions. Most restaurants and cafes in Belgrade strictly adhere to all the measures, as well as this one. if you happen to come across one where that is not the case, try to find some more secluded table. If that is impracticable, the best thing to do is to skip that place. It is safest to avoid crowded places. Some of the facilities have tables surrounded by protective barriers, such as plexiglass or screens. Such a method of protection is the best while eating out during pandemic.
Can I catch Covid-19 from food while eating out during pandemic?
Experts say there is currently no evidence of the new coronavirus disease transmission through food. The disease appears to be spread mainly from person-to-person through virus particles when someone coughs or sneezes. Proper cooking should significantly reduce the virus concentration. Even if the virus is present on food or a cook catches it, there are several factors that could make the transmission of the virus through food less likely. Chefs should have a routine to adhere to, such as:
- frequent hand-washing;
- wearing a protective mask;
- cleaning of surfaces and utensils;
- cooking food at the right temperature.
Is the fact that employees wear masks sufficient protection against the virus?
The fact that employees wear masks is certainly a big plus. However, that does not mean that there is no risk. You will feel safer while eating out during pandemic, that is for sure. Needless to say, they must maintain adequate hand hygiene.
The temperature of each employee is measured without contact at the beginning and end of the shift. On the other hand, people can have the virus without developing any symptoms. It is an essential thing you need to remember. The most important thing is to take care of yourself. Wash your hands often, distance yourself from others, and wear a mask as much as you can.
