66th March Festival from March 27th to March 31st at the Youth Center in Belgrade

Martov Festival – 66th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival will be held from March 27 to March 31, 2019 in the Belgrade Youth Center, which is also the organizer of the event.

One of the oldest film festivals in Europe and the world, this year will last for 5 days, and the audience will present a rich film program in several national competition categories: documentary film up to 50 minutes, experimental film and video art, animated film and short feature film – a category for which there is an international selection. Numerous special projections, professional programs and forums for professionals and students are planned, meetings and discussions with festival guests, master classes and other accompanying programs.

The new artistic director of the Martov Festival is Sonja Ðekić, who has been working on her documentary projects for several decades (in several roles (“My Friend Serbia” 2008, “KOSMA” 2013, “Speleonaut / Under the Stone Age” 2018). These films took part in over 70 festivals and won 15 awards. She graduated from the Department of Film and TV Directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, and until now she has been involved in the work of two film festivals, almost from their founding – “7 Magnificent” in Belgrade and “Grafest” in Gracanica.

The festival continues its production engagement on the project “Serbian animated film” – after the first one, now another DVD is being prepared, 13 exciting animated works created in the period from 1969 to 1977.
In addition to the promotion of this DVD edition, it is planned to present the DVD “Awarded”, which brings a selection of twenty best films from the Animation, Faculty of Applied Arts.
Editor of both editions is our famous animator, art artist and pedagogue Rastko Ciric.

At this year’s festival, a special guest of the “Treasury” show, the Redaction for the History of Radio Television of Serbia, is planned.
