50. BEMUS 2018.
The legendary British violinist, Nigel Kennedy, will have a spectacular concert “From Bach to Gershwin” at the opening of the 50th BEMUS.
On Wednesday, October 10, beginning at 8 pm, Nigel Kennedy will perform with a chamber ensemble in the Sava Center.
Kennedy will perform with a chamber ensemble. This famous violinist has gained the reputation of one of the world’s leading virtuosos. He performed music of the widest repertoire – from classic composers to Hendrix – performed with legends such as Paul McCartney and Robert Plant, played for the British royal family and visited the world countless times in concert with leading world orchestras.
Love for jazz was very much expressed in his career. He worked on the songs “Summertime”, “They Can not Take That Away From Me” and “Porgy and Bess” on the album “Kennedy Meets Gershwin” (2018), released on the 120th anniversary of Gershwin’s birth.
Kennedy says that Gershwin’s work can be summarized through three main ingredients: through the fusion of jazz and classical music, the wonderful melodic influences of Jewish culture and the unique energy of New York. It is this music that corresponds to its nature, skills and experiences.
After a millennium career full of millions of circulations and the world’s leading awards, Nigel Kennedy has gained the reputation as one of the world’s leading virtuosos.

Kennedy did not leave a stamp in classical music alone. He is known to have transformed the works of Jimmy Hendrix, after his successors, in front of the Experience Hendrix Foundation, asked him to record a “consultation” with the icon of the hand and blouse. The revolutionary “The Kennedy Experience”, which featured Hendrix-based improvisations, followed.
